The Marine industry is unlike the standard ‘9 to 5’ employment sector with the vast amount of paperwork each seafarer requires to work at sea. We began to consider why we continue ask prospective candidates to provide their credentials in a standardised CV Word Document. CV’s often give us little information on the detail we need to understand the sea service and experience of a prospective seafaring candidate.

We know that recruiters are interested in Trading Area, Cargoes, Grade Changes, Engines, DP Type, Dive Operations, Pilotage Exemption Certificates, Surveys, Dry Docks, Major Overhauls, and any Challenges they met and resolved - but this crucial information is often missing from CV’s.

This prompted us to change the way seafarer information is collected so that important details and certification is accessible at the touch of a button, cloud-based and secure environment. By creating a standardised layout for seafarer profiles it will enable employers to quickly compare and shortlist candidates.

What’s more, employers and recruiters will be able to share the digital profiles of prospective candidates via a secure URL link. These links will only be accessible for a set period ensuring that the candidates personal details remain secure and the company remain GDPR compliant.
